My family and I spent a few days in Galveston. Apart from some of the usual attractions such as beach and Moody Gardens, I spent a little time looking at a few of the historic sites there. Galveston is FULL of history.
Below is a photo of St. Joseph Church, built in 1859. It's the oldest German Catholic Church in Texas. It's located at 2202 Avenue K.

I also drove by the oldest house in Galveston, built in 1838. It is the Michael B. Menard Home, built by Galveston's founder. The location is 1605 33rd St.

I also got to do something I always wanted to do, which is stop in the historic cemetery, aptly named Old City Cemetery. It is located just past 41st Street off of Broadway. Turn right on 41st street, and there is a drive that cuts halfway through the cemetery where you can park. The cemetery was established in 1839.
